But what places are there to see in Larnaca?

The Promenade

Start your vacation with a walk along Larnaca's promenade. In addition to great sea views to begin to soak up its beauty, it is full of restaurants where you can taste the delicious Cypriot cuisine. Being by the sea, there is always fresh fish, and when you finish eating, you can stroll around the stores looking for souvenirs.

Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque

This mosque is one of the must-sees in the city, and luckily it is free of charge. It is a sanctuary located next to the Great Salt Lake. It is about three kilometers from the center and includes a mausoleum, a mosque, a cemetery and a fountain, in a natural setting.

San Lazaro Church

Another of the great attractions to see in Larnaca is the Church of St. Lazarus. It is a Greek Orthodox church that was built in the ninth century, and contains the tomb of St. Lazarus, who according to biblical tradition, was resurrected by Jesus. Its Byzantine-style architecture is very beautiful.

The Kition archaeological site

If you want to see the history and culture of the city, don't miss this archaeological site, full of ruins. They correspond to the ancient city-state of Kition, which dates back to the 13th century BC, and include remains of temples, houses and fortifications in different states of preservation. And if you feel like visiting other sites similar to this one, you should also visit Choirokoitia, with its Neolithic ruins, that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Beaches of Larnaca

The beaches are one of the main attractions of this city and definitely deserve including among the places to see in Larnaca. The best known is Finikoudes, with its strip of golden sand and transparent waters, and many places to go for a drink. Other beaches to visit are Mackenzie, Faros, Pyla or Kastella.

The Akamas Peninsula Natural Park

If you want to see wild nature in all its splendor, the Akamas Peninsula Natural Park is about an hour's drive from Larnaca. It is a complete experience, as you can take boat rides to reach areas that would otherwise be impossible; hiking trails with spectacular views; native flora and fauna in protected areas; caves and beaches inhabited by turtles, and although you cannot approach them, you will be able to observe them from a distance.

Nicosia

Nicosia is about 40 minutes’ drive from Larnaca and has the peculiarity of being divided into two states by a border. It is the capital of both the Republic of Cyprus, which is the Greek area, and of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which belongs to Turkey. The result is a cultural fusion and places as impressive as the ancient walled citadel. Stroll through the old town, visit the cathedral and visit the bustle of Ledras Street.

Lefkara

One of the most charming villages to see in and around Larnaca is Lefkara. It has traditional houses and cobblestone streets where it is a pleasure to lose yourself and enjoy its colours. It is also famous for its silver crafts and lace, so it is also an ideal place if you want to get some souvenirs of the country that are unlike the usual sort.
