Tour of Germany departing from Munich

Although we could tell you that this tour takes five or six days, we do not want to give you a timeline because it all depends on how much time you want to spend in each place depending on your preferences.

Furthermore, everything will depend on your means of transport; if you opt for public transport, it will take you much longer to get from one city to another, whereas if you choose to rent a car in Munichyou have the option of spending more time walking around the cities and nature and less time getting around. Not to mention that it will be easier to reach less accessible locations. Whatever you do, here is a route through Germany that you will love!

City of Munich

From Spain, there are direct flights here, so your getaway can begin with a visit to this interesting city. The most important areas are Marienplatz, the cathedral, the English Garden or the open-air market, whose German name is Viktualienmarkt. Here you can discover all kinds of local products, such as sausages or mushrooms, and it is also an excellent place to try typical foods that are quick to prepare such as sausage sandwiches. And if you like surfing, don't miss the opportunity to see the people who live here surfing the waves of the river.

Lakes and salt mines

Your next stop on this route through Germany are the lakes and salt mines, known as Berchtesgaden. They can be toured aboard a mining train in a journey of about ten minutes; pay attention because you can't take pictures. If you are left wanting more, there are circular routes around Lake Hinter.

Konig Lake

The king of lakes. Located in the middle of the Bavarian Alps, it is said to be the cleanest in the country due to the clarity of its waters and its emerald green hue. It is straight from a postcard, as on one of the banks you will spot the beautiful chapel of San Bartolomé, white and with a red dome. The most photographed image is that of its reflection in the water with the mountains in the background.

Nuremberg

And after reconnecting with nature, the tour of Germany continues with another city: Nuremberg. With its medieval architecture and having been almost entirely rebuilt after the bombings, you will find it easy to love. Its points of interest are the homonymous castle, the historic center, the churches of San Lorenzo and San Sebaldo or its subway caves.

Dinkelsbühl and Bamberg

Leaving Nuremberg behind, there are several nearby medieval towns that are also worth a visit. These are the smallest, but not the only ones, so spend your time wisely and dare to explore this region. The former has remained virtually intact, unlike cities such as Nuremberg, which was razed to the ground by bombing. In addition to the beauty of its streets and colorful facades, it has a very attractive Christmas market. In the second, Bamberg, its old town is a World Heritage Site, and you will be surprised by its town hall on an island or the antiquity of its cathedral.

Stuttgart

With the medieval towns behind us, we arrive in Stuttgart on this route through Germany. It is the sixth largest city in the country and the gateway to the Black Forest, which will be the final stop. It is worth walking along the pedestrianized street in the historic center, Königstrasse, and visiting monuments such as the Castle Square or the Bohnenviertel district, which today houses second-hand stores and art galleries.

Black Forest

And finally, the Black Forest which is neither of these two things, but a mountain range with several towns and cities such as Freiburg and, above all, nature, since half of the area are natural parks declared Biosphere Reserve. Don't miss lakes like the Titi, the Feldberg mountain, the Wutach river gorge, which is called the Grand Canyon, the Gutach river waterfall or the cuckoo clock route.
