Where to watch the sunset in Zadar: Top 5
If you have decided to include this little treat in your visit to Croatia, you may be wondering which are the best places to watch the sunset in Zadar. In this section we tell you our top 5 favorite places where you can watch the stunning sunset in this magical city:
Sea Organ
The most popular and most impressive place to watch the sunset in Zadar is the Sea Organ. It is a curious place located along the Zadar promenade.
It consists of a set of marble steps, made of white stone from a Croatian island, reaching down to the sea under which there are 35 tubes. These tubes produce a musical sound as the waves break on them, and provide a sort of unique soundtrack to the sunset.
This musical accompaniment makes the experience much more sensory. However, if you decide to watch the sunset here, we recommend you go early, as many people gather here to do the same.
Sun Salutation
Next to the Sea Organ you will find another of the favorite spots where Croatians and tourists gather to watch the sunset in Zadar: the Sun Salutation. Nikola Bašić, the same architect who designed the Sea Organ, rounded off this enclave with the Sun Salutation.
It is a circle with a 72ft diameter in which there are more than 300 solar panels. These panels catch the sunlight and, at sunset, generate impressive visual effects. It makes for a spectacle of colors and luminous forms that accompanies the sunset.
In front of the University of Zadar
If you prefer a quieter place to watch the sunset, we suggest you walk along the promenade until you find yourself in front of the University of Zadar. It is also the oldest university in Croatia.
This location offers a very nice view of the sunset, and is much less crowded than the two previous sites.
Puntamika Beach
Renting a car in Zadar offers an important advantage if you are looking for a good sunset viewing experience: you can get to Puntamika beach. This beach is located further north and you can watch the sunset in a more marine atmosphere.
Near Puntamika there are other small beaches, like Nin or Bilotinjak, where you can also go to watch the sunset. If, in addition, you were to take some food and drink with you, the show would be much more enjoyable.
Boat ride
Finally, another popular alternative to enjoy this experience is to watch the sunset on a boat. Once there, you will see that there are plenty of activities and tours to take a boat ride at sunset, and you will be able to enjoy the spectacle at sea.
As you can see, taking in the sunset is the perfect finishing touch to the day you spend in Zadar. It is, without a doubt, the cherry on top of the route through a Croatian city with a lot to offer from the tourist point of view.
Don’t wait any longer, rent your car in Zadar airport with OK Mobility and enjoy movie-like sunsets.
