Best beaches in Zadar

During your trip, we recommend you explore on your own and be amazed by the countless sunbathing spots. But for your reference, here are what we consider the best beaches in Zadar.

Kolovare

Located within walking distance from the historic center of Zadar, this beach is one of the most popular among locals and tourists alike. The water is crystal clear and the sand is fine, and it also has all the services you could need to be comfortable, such as sun loungers and parasols for rent, and options to practice water sports. There are also bars and restaurants nearby where you can enjoy the local cuisine overlooking the sea.

Zaton

Located about 10 miles from Zadar, Zaton is ideal for those looking for a family-friendly beach. It is the most popular beach in the area and, although it is pebbly and a little less spectacular, it is perfectly equipped. In the surrounding area there is a lake and forests to explore. It is also close to the city of Nin and there are services and restaurants as well as lodging options.

Petrčane

A few miles north of Zadar, Petrčane beach is known for its natural beauty and picturesque landscape. It is a small fishing village, so you will see boats in the harbor. The waters are calm and shallow, so it is also visited by families. In addition, being close to a lodging area, tourists are often seen there. Don't limit your visit to sunbathing and swimming in its waters, visit the town and the surrounding area too.

Podbrig

This is one of the beaches in Zadar that we are sure you will like the most. It is found on the outskirts of the city, and you should head south along the coast. It is less accessible than the others, but perhaps that is why it is more beautiful and offers greater tranquility. The beach is made up of a combination of sand, pebbles and gravel, with parking available, a sports park and areas suitable for children.

Borik

Borik beach is located in the eponymous district in the northern part of Zadar. It is very easy to access and, like the others, boasts excellent services. With a wide stretch of soft sand and shallow crystalline waters, this beach is also perfect for a relaxing day in the sun. In addition, if you like water sports, you can go water skiing, windsurfing and ride on an inflatable banana.

Punta Skala

Found at the western end of Zadar, Punta Skala beach is a real paradise for lovers of nature and tranquility. In the surroundings there are pine forests, which contrast with the blue of its crystalline waters and the sky. As one of the furthest away from the center of Zadar, this beach is rarely overcrowded. And because of the bountiful nature within walking distance, it is an area that offers a multitude of possibilities for your trip.

Nin

If you visit the city, you should also head to the Ninska Lagoon. This is another of the best beaches in Zadar, and is located on an islet connected to the land by two bridges. At the tip of the Ravni Kotari peninsula there is also a sandy beach, so there are a number of attractions to visit in this area. The waters are calm and shallow, which is the norm for practically the entire coast of this region. To top it all off, the beach is sandy and not pebbly.
