Barreta Beach
In the domains of Faro there is an island (Barreta) where there is nothing at all. You will only see the sea, tremendously calm and transparent, golden sand and very few humans, most of them concentrated on observing birds and mollusks. Because 'Ilha Deserta', as it is also known, is, literally, a desert island, full of the wildest nature. Because the few tourists who come here do so for its aura of sanctuary where they can escape from the urban noise and fury. It is definitely one of the beaches of Faro that you cannot miss. You can only visit it by boat. Remember to bring food and drink, as there are no services or infrastructure in these seven kilometers of sand and marshy banks.
Ancão Beach
Unlike Barreta, Ancão beach has good access by car and on foot, bars and restaurants, showers and toilets, lifeguards and all possible amenities. It is located in Faro's Golden Triangle, which includes some of the most exclusive resorts in the area. Despite this, it manages to remain immune to the crowds, unlike most of the Algarve coastline. It is, therefore, one of the most outstanding beaches of Faro. Its waters are placid and invite you to try paddle surfing or kayaking.
