Although Malaga may seem like a city where you can just spend time sunbathing and swimming in the warm waters of the Mediterranean, there are a number of things to do in Malaga in two days. In fact, there are so many things to do that you may not spend any time at all on the beach. Just decide what time of year you want to visit and let's go!

Malaga offers a range of options, both for spending time at the beach and for visiting cultural sites. Here are some ideas for visiting Malaga in two days.

Itinerary for a two-day visit Malaga

Day 1 - Downtown sites

The first day of your Malaga itinerary will allow you to get the lay of the land and stop at some of the city's main sights. Be sure to pack some good walking shoes in your suitcase along with your beach clothes, as you will need them!

Free walking tour

The first activity of your two-day itinerary in Malaga should undoubtedly be a free walking tour. Walking tours should always be our first choice when exploring a new city. They help us to find our way around and see the major tourist attractions of the city. They will also tell you something about the history of the city and, sometimes, get some recommendations from locals.

Alcazaba of Malaga

After learning about the history, culture and sights of Malaga during the free walking tour, it's time to visit and see some of these places for yourself. One of the best places to visit during your stay in Malaga in two days is the Alcazaba, the Moorish fortress and palace that overlooks the city and the port.

Roman Theater

After spending so much time on your feet, it's time for a more relaxing activity: visiting the Roman Theater. It is an incredible place to visit, but also to rest your feet after so much walking.

Picasso Museum

It's time to head to a museum dedicated to the works of one of Malaga's most famous sons: Pablo Picasso. Picasso was born in Malaga and lived in the city for most of his childhood. Although it is said that he thought more of Barcelona as his true home, Malaga is very proud to be the birthplace of the most influential artist of the 20th century.

Because of the pride of the city, there is a small museum that houses several works from his long career. Although you won't find his most famous paintings, such as Guernica (you'll have to visit Madrid for that!), there are a significant number of his paintings and sculptures housed here. You will be able to see how his influences and styles changed throughout his long life.

Day 2 - Food, wine and art

While the first day of your itinerary to see Malaga in two days involved visiting a lot of historical sites, the second day is a bit more relaxed. This day will focus on local foodwhile enjoying the artistic culture that has developed here.

Atarazanas Market

One of the best things to do in any Spanish city is to head to one of its local markets. Malaga is no different. The Atarazanas Market is huge, and has everything. From freshly caught seafood, butcher's stalls, cold cuts and cheeses, olives, to fresh fruits and vegetables. There are also a number of small restaurants and bars both inside and around the market, where it may be worth stopping to quench your thirst or hunger.

Wine Museum

The Wine Museum is a small museum in the old town of Malaga and is completely dedicated to the history and processes of wine production in the province of Malaga. Although Spain is one of the world's leading wine producers, most people only know about the vintages from the La Rioja or Ribera del Duero regions and do not realize that excellent wines are made all over the country.

Exploring Soho

If you need to finish off the wine at the Wine Museum and want to see some more of the art this city has to offer, you need to take a stroll through the Soho neighborhood. This is one of the more modern areas of Malaga and may seem miles away from the tourist crowds of the old town, however, it is only about a 10-15 minute walk to the main attractions.

Malagueta Beach

After spending most of your two-day itinerary in Malaga on your feet and soaking up the culture of this great coastal city, it's time to hit the beach! Although the beach of the city of Malaga, Malagueta Beach, is not the most beautiful on the Costa del Sol, it is a perfect place to sunbathe, take a swim or even have a picnic.

Finally, we must remind you that to get around Malaga and visit all these sights, we recommend that you rent a car in Malaga. At Ok Mobility you can find different models of rental cars and motorbikes, in all prices and ranges, visit our website now!
