The province of Valencia is one of the most pleasant in all of Spain during most of the year, and one of the main holiday destinations today. And, although the capital is its hotspot, it has a number of magical places that are worth discovering. For this reason, we are going to show you the best possible routes by car in Valencia.

Did you know that Valencia is the third most populated province in Spain? While 60% of the population lives in the city of Valencia, there are 265 other municipalities that are also really interesting. In fact, one of Valencia’s best qualities is that you can find both beach and mountain within a few miles of each other.

What are the best routes by car in Valencia?

If you are thinking of choosing Valencia as a holiday destination to spend a few days enjoying nature, this article is for you. Here are some spectacular routes in Valencia that you can travel by car. And, if you’re looking to make your journey even easier, you can rent a car in Valencia with ease.

Albufera Natural Park

One of the most interesting places to visit in the province of Valencia is the Albufera Natural Park. Heading south from Valencia, we recommend you tour the entire park to take in its flora and fauna.

And, to round off the day, you can stop for dinner in El Palmar or El Perelló, two small towns located within the park itself.

If you want an even fuller evening, you can go to the lighthouse of Cullera and visit this town, one of the busiest in summer.

Valencia-Sagunto-Llíria

Another of the most attractive routes by car in Valencia is the triangle formed by Valencia, Sagunto and Llíria. About 20 miles north of Valencia, travelling around the coast, we arrive at Sagunto, one of the provincial towns with the most cultural treasures. Don’t miss the castle of Sagunto, the Roman Circus or the Roman theatre.

From there, a little more than half an hour away, you can go to Llíria, an inland city with an important archaeological site. In Llíria you can visit the Arab baths, the San Miguel Royal Monastery, or the archaeological site of Tossal de Sant Miquel, which houses the remains of the ancient city of Edeta.

Utiel-Requena

About 45 miles inland from Valencia, another route you can explore if you like wine tourism is to travel through the region of Utiel-Requena. Throughout the region there are more than 100 registered wineries, many of which can be visited to get an in-depth look at how wine is made in this area with such a strong winemaking tradition.

And, in addition to wine, Utiel-Requena also offers some truly unique landscapes, such as the geological routes of Chera or the Las Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park.

Valencia-Xátiva

The fourth route that we propose has Xátiva as its final destination, home of the Borgia family residence. When you arrive in Xátiva, the first thing we recommend is a visit to its imposing castle, which is one of its main hallmarks.

Afterwards, you can walk through the streets of the town and discover the Collegiate Basilica of Santa Maria, the Hospital Reial, the Almodi Museum or take the route known as the Water Route.

Navarrés waterfalls

Finally, if you rent a car in Valencia we recommend a visit to a natural slice of paradise known as Los Chorradores de Navarrés, in the Valencian town of Quesa. It owes its name to the impressive waterfalls and cascades, commonly known as "chorradores".

It is an enclave located within the Barcal ravine, perfect for people who like hiking. Among the most interesting attractions you will find here, we can highlight the Pozo de las Quebradas, a kind of natural hot springs spa.

How best to get around the province of Valencia

Most people arrive in Valencia by train, due to its good connections with practically the entire country. However, this need not prevent you from visiting the best spots in the province if you rent a car, either at the airport or at the train station itself.
