When you think of Majorca, your mind is usually filled with images of beaches, sun, beach bars, ice cream and swimsuits, in other words, summer. But this island is not only a place to spend the summer, but also a place to keep in mind even in the coldest months of the year. Its undisputed charm, both in August and January, makes it worth discovering Majorca in winter. Will you join us?

8 plans not to be missed in winter

There are many options to enjoy the island outside the time when most people usually do, especially if you have a vehicle to move around the island quickly and comfortably, taking advantage of the good conditions of the road network that covers the entire island.

Glass blowing at Lafiore

Lafiore is a factory of handmade glass figurines located in Esporles, a small town halfway between Palma and Valldemossa. It offers a visit in which you can enjoy the wonders of the craft of glassblowing live and, if you like, participate in it, being able to take the piece you create home with you.

Traditional festivals

Most towns have their festivals in summer, but Mallorca in summer is already saturated, so two of its most popular and fun festivities are in winter. Sant Antoni (January 16 and 17) and Sant Sebastià (January 20 in Palma city), are two dates to keep in mind if you decide to visit the island in January. The foguerons, the gloses, and the completas are some of the most striking attractions of Sant Antoni, which are celebrated with special enthusiasm in Manacor, Artà and Sa Pobla.

The Cathedral

There is no much to say about the famous Cathedral of Majorca. It is a must-see. There is little that needs to be said about the famous Mallorca Cathedral. Its Gothic style, its multiple rose windows, its high altar and the baldachin are the work of Gaudí, who was in charge of the reform (unfinished) that would earn it the name of "The Cathedral of Light" and turn it into a luminous beauty in its interior. And after enjoying seeing it from the inside, there is nothing more recommendable than seeing it from the outside at night. Its nocturnal illumination makes it a spectacle worth seeing.

Excursion to Sa Forada

This must-do is one of the most beautiful excursions to go on in the area. Sa Forada gets its name from the visible hole in the rock from which you can see the sea, with its bluish intensity. The path to the rock, although long, is not very difficult, so it is ideal even for families with small children.

Local wine tasting

The wines of Majorca are gaining the recognition they deserve in Spain, so we strongly recommend that you go to one of the wine tastings that the island offers. Specially recommended La Nit del Vi, in Inca, where for a modest price you can taste different wines of the area, with a gift of the glass.

The Ses Barques viewpoint

On the Ma-10 road, entering through the Tramontana mountain range, there is a wonderful viewpoint called Ses Barques, known for its beautiful views over the port of Sóller. An essential stop along the way, especially at sunset. But if you like to eat, in the same viewpoint there is a restaurant with the same name where you can taste the best food in the area, accompanied by the best views.

The port of Sóller Valdemossa

It is said that from this port you can see the best sunsets on the island. The sun sets over the sea and the color of the sky blends with the ocean, creating a landscape worthy of being remembered and immortalized forever. In addition, strolling through it is a good way to spend the afternoon, or evening, thanks to its stores and restaurants.

Valdemossa

Moving away from the blue coast of Majorca, we find this town in the middle of the mountains. Its cobblestone streets, the surrounding greenery, the houses decorated with multiple colors, the tiles, etc. Valldemossa offers a wonderful visit that has something for everyone, it wasn’t the residence of Chopin for nothing. It is also well known for its famous coca de patata (potato cake) a typical sweet food from the area.

We hope that the offer we have proposed has pleased you enough to rent your car, your camper or your moto in Majorca and enjoy the wide range of winter possibilities offered by the island.
