Dubai is attracting huge numbers of new tourists every year. It is also a common destination for stopovers before you continue on your trip. In either case, you can adapt your itinerary to make the most of your visit to the city. We tell you what to see in Dubai whether you are there for 1, 3 or 5 days so you don't miss the most interesting spots.

What to see in Dubai: Complete itinerary

Dubai is an unfamiliar city for many people, and it is normal to be left feeling a little confused when planning a trip. Here are the places you can't miss, depending on how long you spend in this destination.

Keep in mind that the distances to travel within Dubai itself are very long, and since the public transport network isn't perfect, the best option is to rent a car.

See Dubai in 1 day

If you're just passing through Dubai on your way to another destination, you may be wondering what you simply have to see to make the most of your day:

Al Fahidi

Also known as Al Bastakiya, this historic neighborhood is characterized by the architecture of the buildings and streets. To get a clearer idea of what life was like in this area, inhabited by merchants with high purchasing power, it is possible to visit some houses, such as Heritage House, located in this neighborhood.

Dubai Museum

Near Al Fahidi is the Dubai Museum, where you are sure to notice the large ship at the entrance. The museum is housed in a former fortress, and allows you to get a broader temporal view of how Dubai has evolved over recent decades.

Dubai Mall

The world's largest shopping mall is also worth a visit if you spend a day in Dubai. It is home to more than 1,200 stores spread over 110 hectares, where there is also an aquarium and an ice skating rink.

Here you can also see a light and music show at the Dubai Fountain, one of the largest fountains in the world. Of course, since it is a free spectacle, it is usually quite crowded.

Burj Khalifa

To round out your day, you can't miss a visit to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Standing 828 meters tall, it is right next to the mall, and has several viewpoints that are worth the climb to watch the sunset. In fact, if you go all the way up to the highest viewpoint, you will have a panoramic view of the city at an altitude of more than 550 meters.

What to see in Dubai in 3 days

If you stay in Dubai for 3 days, you can add the following to your list:

Dubai Creek

In the middle of this huge city lies this 6-mile natural estuary that separates the two oldest neighborhoods, Deira and Bur Dubai. You can cross the creek in a car over any of the bridges, but you can also take one of the boats that frequently cross the estuary.

Jumeirah Mosque

This mosque is one of the few that can be visited by non-Muslims. Of course, you will have to go with a guide and with your body fully covered. Women must also cover their hair.

Deira

A stroll through the streets of this old quarter of Dubai is a highly recommended activity. The highlights are its souks, among which are the souks offering gold, perfumes and spices.

Miracle Garden

This floral garden is one of the most beautiful spots in Dubai, and every year it is renovated to give it a new look. However, it is usually closed between May and October.

5-day tour of Dubai

If you are spending 5 days in Dubai, on top of everything we have listed above, you can add these visits:

Palm Jumeirah

This artificial island in the shape of a palm tree has several restaurants and stores, and is home to one of the most interesting viewpoints in the city, The View at the Palm.

Burj Al Arab

This is the most luxurious hotel in Dubai and in the world, as it is the only one with a 7-star rating. You can take a guided tour inside.

Excursion to the desert

On your final day you can book an excursion to see the Dubai desert. However, if you do so, it is better to go with an official agency than on your own. If you want a more special atmosphere, you can add a dinner in the desert to the excursion.
