Cavalleria Lighthouse
Between the 14th and 19th centuries, there were more than 700 shipwrecks near Menorca, which made the need to build a lighthouse a clear priority.
Designed by Antonio López y Montalvo, this lighthouse was opened in March 1857. Beyond the aesthetics, a visit to this lighthouse is a must because there are breathtaking views, with cliffs standing over 90 metres high.
Another point of interest is the Cova des Vent, a cave where, for the first 15 or 20 metres, you can enjoy the sunset or the views of Illa des Porros.
Favàritx Lighthouse
Several have claimed that this lighthouse is located in an almost otherworldly landscape. Nestled within the s'Albufera des Grau Natural Park, the environment is rugged, full of black rocks, and the Mediterranean seems especially fierce in this area, as it has a strong swell.
It is an ideal spot for photography lovers, because the landscape is quite different from other parts of Menorca.
Punta Nati Lighthouse
No tour of the lighthouses of Menorca can omit this one, because it is one of the most popular. Beyond the lighthouse, the road leading up to it is also a spectacle in itself.
Here the road is bordered by stone walls, and it is common to see cattle grazing in the surrounding meadows. But the best part comes at the end, because when you reach the lighthouse the landscape becomes practically lunar. Once there, you will see some steep cliffs that are more than worthy of a photo.
Artrutx Lighthouse
This building is in perfect condition because it has recently been restored. However, it is no longer an operational lighthouse, but a bar-restaurant.
If you stop by for a drink or a bite to eat, you can see the design from the inside. However, if you don't fancy heading inside, you can also enjoy the surrounding views: coves, beaches, cliffs, and even the island of Mallorca. Interestingly, this is the second tallest lighthouse in Menorca, standing 34 metres tall.

Mahón Lighthouse
Mahón or Sant Carles lighthouse is situated in the mouth of the port of this popular Menorcan city. Built in 1852, it is the oldest on the island and also one of the least visited by tourists, since its appearance is more modest in comparison to other similar buildings. To add to that, it is located within a military compound, so it is not freely accessible.
However, if you do go there, you will have the unique opportunity to marvel at great views of the harbour, as well as the Penjat Tower.
Illa de l'Aire Lighthouse
Although the lighthouse of Sant Carles is the oldest on the island, there is another one nearby that is even older, dating back to 1850. The difference is that it is not found on the island, but on an islet located in front of Punta Prima beach. This is also the tallest lighthouse in Menorca, at 35.3 metres high.
It is only accessible by boat, but you can see it in all its glory from the coast.
