A driving tour in Turkey is a great way to learn more about this beautiful country. With a rental car you can move freely at your own pace, stopping at the destinations that catch your attention.

From the most popular and touristic corners to those that do not appear in the travel guides. By planning your road trip you are sure to have a unique and unrepeatable experience. To help you with this, here is a seven-day itinerary.

Day 1 - Istanbul

Full of color, history and culture, Istanbul is the ideal place to start your driving tour in Turkey. You can start by visiting the Blue Mosque, where the architectural design continues to leave visitors speechless many years after its construction.

From there you can visit a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture, the Hagia Sophia. Also add to your itinerary the Topkapi Palace and, after seeing its opulent halls and extraordinary gardens, you can spend the rest of the day immersing yourself in the city's markets.

Day 2 - Bursa

The second day of the trip can be spent getting to know Bursa, once the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, in more depth. A great heritage to discover awaits you here, but the Great Mosque of Bursa and the Green Mosque are particularly spectacular.

By taking the cable car up to Mount Uladag you can enjoy incredible panoramic views. Also in this area you can immerse yourself in nature and do some hiking. If you go in winter, you can even ski.

Day 3 - Sile and Agva

Continuing our driving tour in Turkey, we will visit two beach destinations to enjoy the waters of the Black Sea. Sile and Agva are two beautiful cities where you can stroll leisurely and immerse yourself in Turkish culture.

The natural beauty of the surroundings are spellbinding, so do not hesitate to take a boat ride on the Goksu River. If you are hungry afterwards, try the hamsi (anchovies), one of the most outstanding local delicacies.

Day 4 of the Turkey driving tour - Edirne

After a day of relaxation, it is time to return to uncovering the secrets that this country holds. In Edirne you will find the Selimiye Mosque, considered the pinnacle of Islamic architecture. You can also visit the Beyazit Palace and the ancient Eski Camii Mosque.

Again, after a day of sightseeing you can taste the delicious gastronomy of the region. In this case we recommend local dishes such as keskek, which is a stew made from wheat.

Day 5 - Kilyos

Two hours from Istanbul is one of Turkey's most popular beach towns. Kilyos is well known for its golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The sea conditions in this area are perfect for water sports such as surfing.

In this town you can spend a day relaxing and sunbathing. However, you can also take advantage of your stay to stroll around the town and get lost in its streets. We are sure that you will find a treasure trove of things that you will want to photograph.

Day 6 - Sapanca and Masukiye

After so many days on the move, it's normal to feel like you need a bit of peace and quiet. From Istanbul you reach Sapanca in a couple of hours. You can stroll along the lake and admire the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

After your walk, get in your car again and head for Masukiye. This village is very popular among Turks because it retains a very natural look and offers a lot of outdoor activities. From there you can visit the Sapanca Park and its waterfalls.

Day 7 - Back to Istanbul

Road trips are perfect for getting to know new destinations better, but they are also exhausting. On the last day of your trip, get up early and head for Istanbul. You can take advantage of the last day to finish seeing some of the tourist attractions of this city.

It is also a good time to do some shopping. If you have time, you can take a cruise on the Golden Horn and enjoy another totally different view of the city. If possible, make this trip at sunset.

By planning your road trip in Turkey, you will get to know the country at your own pace, visiting the destinations that interest you the most. Our ideas are very interesting for your first stay in the country, but you can adapt it as best suits you. Can we help you a little more? We are waiting for you in Istanbul with the rental car you need for your trip!
